Teaching

Hi! I love teaching, and talking about teaching, and reading about teaching- especially when it applies to my favorite topic: proteins & structure!

Over time, I hope to fill this page with links to resources I have found that help with teaching macromolecular structure to undergraduates, as well as general teaching advice.

VASSAR COLLEGE
 Semester   Courses Taught
 FallCHEM 108- General Chemistry
CHEM 323- Protein Chemistry
BIOC 356- Biochemistry Senior Seminar
BIOC 326- Biophysical Chemistry
 SpringCHEM/BIOL 272- Biochemistry
CHEM/BIOL 272- Biochemistry Lab

Above, you can see which classes I currently teach at Vassar.

Below, you can view my contribution the Education Corner column of RCSB PDB Newsletter in July 2016. In it I talk about a fun protein structure module I created for biochemistry lab (the photos above  are of the first students at Lehigh University to enjoy it!)- which was ultimately published in 2017 here:  McLaughlin K.J. "Understanding Structure: A Computer-Based Macromolecular Biochemistry Lab Activity," J. Chem Educ. 2017 Article ASAP DOI: 10.1021/acs.jchemed.6b00464 Text/PDF
